Tinta Canto
A triple-articulated curve of gestural stoneware.
The Form: Three hand-formed plates that follow the natural contour of the body. In the Tinta series, the Canto is defined by its organic, slightly irregular "U" shape and the hand-painted black lines that trace its edges. The silhouette is intentional and fluid, honoring the rhythmic irregularity of hand-built clay.
The Spirit: Canto refers to the edge, the stone, and the chant. In the Tinta family, it is a visual harmony of ink and earth. It is a kinetic companion, moving with the wearer. Designed for those who appreciate the beauty of a line that isn't perfectly straight, but perfectly felt.
The Making: I hand-cut each plate from stoneware, finishing the edges with multiple layers of underglaze to create the depth of the black outline. This is a slow, rhythmic process of building and painting. The result is an art object for the body that should be handled as a precious heirloom.
