A wide-span crescent of tactile white stoneware.

The Form: A singular, architectural plate defined by its hand-pitted surface. At 7" wide, the silhouette is a study in symmetry, designed to undulate light across the small divots of the glaze. It rests with intention against the collarbone, a landscape of texture for the body.

The Spirit: The Gorget is a modern talisman drawing from the silhouette of ancient throat armor. Reimagined here as a quiet, light-reflecting shield and an object of presence. It is an invitation to carry the earth with a sense of ceremony.

The Making: To achieve a form this bold, I work the stoneware to a refined, deliberate thinness. This creates a piece that is surprisingly lightweight (approx. 3.5 oz) and comfortable for extended wear. Because of this delicate, glass-like profile, the Gorget should be handled as a fine relic.

The Details:

  • Dimensions: 7" W x 4.5" H

  • Hardware: Double-strand Japanese waxed cotton cord.

  • Adjustability: A hand-formed ceramic slider bead allows for a custom drop.

  • Finish: Signature ceramic endcaps.

The record of the hand

Cloud Commons is a practice of slow, technical discipline. Every artifact is born from the earth, either wheel-thrown or hand-built ensuring that no two pieces are identical. These are records of a moment spent at the wheel or at the table, made to be handled, lived with, and kept for a lifetime.
