The Form: A refined, classical silhouette reimagined in raw stoneware. Thrown on the wheel in brown clay, No. 3 features a substantial ribbed bowl balanced by a tapered stem with a hand-cut raw clay double-rib collar. Finished in a velvety matte black underglaze with a raw stoneware bowl top, unglazed base, and a crisp, glossy white mouthpiece ring, bowl and interior.

The Spirit: Noir is about the quiet gravity of the evening ritual. No. 3 brings an iconic, hand-held presence to the table, a functional sculpture crafted for those who value the tactile contrast of smooth matte finish, raised wheel ribs, and raw stone.

The Making: Wheel-thrown and hand-finished with precision trimming. The black underglaze preserves the natural grit and texture of the stoneware, while the hand-built stem and glazed bowl interior ensure a seamless, effortless pull.

Details:

  • Finish: Matte black underglaze body; raw clay bowl lip, ribbed stem collar, and base; glossy white bowl interior, mouthpiece ring and interior cavity.

  • Dimensions: 5 x 2 x 1.75”

  • Care: Clean with warm water and isopropyl alcohol for internal maintenance.

The Mark of the Hand: As with any individually handcrafted artifact, subtle variations in proportion, texture, and glaze boundaries are inherent to the medium. These nuances are not flaws, but the physical record of the object's making.

The record of the hand

Cloud Commons is a practice of slow, technical discipline. Every artifact is born from the earth, either wheel-thrown or hand-built ensuring that no two pieces are identical. These are records of a moment spent at the wheel or at the table, made to be handled, lived with, and kept for a lifetime.
